Become a Foster Family
Fostering is the heart of rescue. Without foster homes, we simply cannot save dogs—a Yorkie cannot leave a shelter without having somewhere safe to go.
What Fostering Involves
As a foster, you provide a temporary home for a Yorkie in need. This might mean:
- Helping a dog decompress after shelter life
- Providing post-surgery recovery care
- Socializing a shy or fearful dog
- Giving a senior dog a comfortable place while we find their forever home
What We Provide
Save A Yorkie Rescue covers all costs for foster dogs:
- Veterinary care and medications
- Food (especially prescription diets)
- Grooming
- Supplies like crates, beds, and harnesses
- Training support when needed
Foster Commitment
Foster periods vary—some dogs find homes within weeks, others may take months. We work with your schedule and lifestyle to find dogs that are a good match for your home.
Forever Fosters
Some dogs become "Forever Fosters"—dogs who are older or have medical conditions that make adoption unlikely. These special dogs stay with their foster families permanently, with all expenses covered by the rescue. It's the best of both worlds: they get a loving home, and fosters get a companion without the financial burden.
